3、timeinthe1960s.Intheearly1970s,hesucceededindevelopingtheworld’sfirsthigh-yieldhybridrice.Ofgreatimportanceishispioneeringwork,whichhasestablishedChina’spositionofworldleadershipinthisarea.TheUNFoodandAgricultureOrganization(FAO)hasdecidedtogetinvolvedinthework
4、ofspreadingthecoverageofYuan’shigh-yieldhybridrice,whichitconsidersthebestwaytoincreasetheworld’sgrainoutput.Inthefollowingyears,increasinggrainoutputofhybridricefurthershowedthesuccessofYuanLongpin’sresearch.ThismadehimfirmlybelievethatChinacansurelyfeedherlar
5、gepopulationwithherlimitedcultivatedland.ThisbreakthroughinricecultivationhassignificantlycontributedtosolvingthefoodprobleminChinaandtherestoftheworld.Yuan’samazingachievementhaswonhimagreatmanyawardsandhonoursfromtheUnitedNationsandworldwide.However,evenwiths
6、uchagreatachievement,Yuanwon’ttakeabreak.Inhismindtherealwaysexistsadream,morepracticalthanthatofhisyouth,thatpopularizingthenewhybridricewithhigheryieldsaroundtheworldcaneliminatestarvationonEarth.“Ifthenewhybridriceweregrownintheworld’sremainingricefields,the
