4、ionbasedondifferentlinguists'modelsaswellassomeinfluentialtheoriesrelatedtoEnglishPoliticalSpeeches.2.1AnOverviewofInterpersonalFunctionFunctionallinguiststakethemainresponsibilitytodefinetheinterpersonalfunctionoflanguage.Fromtheirviewpoints,interpersonalfunctionreferstopeopleusela

5、nguagetointeractwithotherpeopletoestablishandmaintainsocialandpersonalrelations,toinfluencetheirattitudesandbehaviors,toshowpersonalopersonalonthingsintheworld.Interpersonalfunctionoflanguagecanalsobetermedasinterpersonalmeaning.However,asLiZhanzi(2002)proposed,interpersonalfunction

6、isnotmerelyconfinedtotheframeworkoffunctionalgrammar.Itactuallyhasbeenstudiedforalongtimefromdifferentperspectivesbyvariouslinguists.Asearlyas1929,Bakhtin(1984)pointedoutthatmeaningneitherliesinthewordorthesoulofthespeakernorthelistener,buttheeffectofinteractionbetweenspeakerandlist
