3、escientificconclusionsarepublishablebutwhohavedifficultyinpresentingtheseconclusionsin,say,aforeignlanguage).Beforesubmittingapaper,therefore,besurethatyouhavesomethingimportantandpublishabletosay.Toknowthis,youshoulddiscussyourresultswithothersworking
4、inthefield,bothinyourowninstitutionandelsewhere.Thebestwaytodothisistopresentyourresultsatscientificmeetings—ifyoucangettothem.Anadditional(oralternative)strategyistojoinanemaillistrelevanttoyourfield,andusethattoobtainfeedbackaboutyourresearchplans,an
5、dlearnaboutresultsfromothersinthefield.Discussyourideasandproposedpaperwithpeoplewhoseworkyourespectandadmire.Itmaybeagoodideatosendoneortwokeyscientistsabriefsummaryofyourpaper,andaskthemtosendyousomeinformalcommentsonwhetheritisworthyourwhilewritinga
6、fullpaper,orifwhetheryoushouldtodosomemoreworkfirst(andifso,what).UsetheInternetandemailifyoucannotspeaktopeopledirectlyatmeetings.Ifyoucandiscussyourworkbytelephone,thendoso;butsendtherecipientasynopsisordraftofyourproposedpublicationfirst,sothatyouha
