3、tosendconfusingsignalsaboutwhetherstudentsapplyinginthefalltoattendcollegemusttakethenewexam. Someschools,includingHarvard,saytheywillacceptscoresfromeitherthenewtestortheoldSATI,whichwasadministeredforthelasttimeinJanuaryanddidnotcontainawritingsection.TheUniv
4、ersityofCentralFlorida,forexample,willrequirethenewtest,whichwillbegivenforthefirsttimeonMarch12.Stillothers,suchastheUniversityofVirginia,stronglyrecommendthatprospectiveapplicantstakethenewtestbutundersomecircumstancesalsowillaccepttheoldSAT.Anumberofcollegesa
5、redelayingadecision.TheCollegeBoard,whichadministerstheSAT,surveyedmorethan1,900four-yearschoolsandhasheardbackfromslightlymorethan500.Ofthose,81%saytheywillrequirethenewtest,includingschoolssuchasHarvardthataregivingstudentsachoiceinwhatwillbeayearoftransition.
