2、datatobeanalysedquantitativelyandsystematically.Questionnairesarebestusedforcollectingfactualdataandappropriatequestionnairedesignisessentialtoensurethatweobtainvalidresponsestoourquestions.ObjectivesindesigningquestionnairesTherearetwomainobjectivesindesigni

3、ngaquestionnaire:Tomaximizetheproportionofsubjectsansweringourquestionnaire—thatis,theresponserate.Toobtainaccuraterelevantinformationforoursurvey.DecidingwhattoaskTherearethreepotentialtypesofinformation:Informationweareprimarilyinterestedin—thatis,dependent

4、variables.Informationwhichmightexplainthedependentvariables—thatis,independentvariables.Otherfactorsrelatedtobothdependentandindependentfactorswhichmaydistorttheresultsandhavetobeadjustedfor—thatis,confoundingvariablesWordingofindividualquestionsThewayquestio

5、nsarephrasedisimportantandtherearesomegeneralrulesforconstructinggoodquestionsinquestionnaireUseshortandsimplesentencesShort,simplesentencesaregenerallylessconfusingandambiguousthanlong,complexones.Asaruleofthumb,mostsentencesshouldcontainoneortwoclauses.Sent

6、enceswithmorethanthreeclausesshouldberephrased.AskforonlyonepieceofinformationatatimeForexample,“Pleaseratethelectureintermsofitscontentandpresentation”asksfortwopiecesofinformationatthesametime.Itshouldbedividedintotwoparts:“Pleaseratethelectureintermsof(a)i

7、tscontent,(b)itspresentation.”AvoidnegativesifpossibleNegativesshouldbeusedonlysparingly（谨慎地）.Forexample,insteadofaskingstudentswhethertheyagreewiththestatement,“Smallgroupteachingshouldnotbeabolished,”thestatementshouldberephrasedas,“Smallgroupteachingshould

8、continue.”Doublenegativesshouldalwaysbeavoided.AskprecisequestionsQuestionsmaybeambiguousbecauseawordortermmayhaveadifferentmeaning.Forexample,ifweaskstudentstoratetheirinterestin“medicin
