Yet,asweallaretoowellaware,therecoveryisnothappeningfastenough.MillionsofAmericans—ourneighbors,friends,familymembers—arestilllookingforjobs.ThismeansthatthemostimmediatetaskmustbetogetourfellowAmericansbacktoworkbyacceleratingeconomicgrowthandjo
4、bcreationbytheprivatesector.
Weknowwhatittakestocompeteforthejobsandindustriesofourtime.Weknowwhatwehavetodotowinthefuture.Weneedtoout-innovate,out-educate,andout-buildtherestoftheworld.WehavetomakeAmericathebestplaceonEarthtodobusiness.Weneedtoreinindefici
5、tsafteradecadeofrisingdebt,andreformourgovernment.Thisisthewaytorobustandwidelysharedprosperity.Yet,atthesametime,wecannotsolveourfiscalproblemsonthebacksofourmostvulnerablecitizens.Anditwouldalsobeamistaketocutthedeficitbyguttingourinvestmentsininnovationa
6、ndeducation,whicharesocriticalforourfutureprosperity.
Thesestepswillhelptheeconomythisyear.Butitisalsoessentialthatwetakestockandlooktothefuture—towhatkindofAmericawewanttoseeemergefromthiscrisisandtakeshapeforthegenerationsofAmericanstocome.
Weknowwhatitta
7、kestocompeteforthejobsandindustriesofourtime.Weknowwhatwehavetodotowinthefuture.Weneedtoout-innovate,out-educate,andout-buildtherestoftheworld.WehavetomakeAmericathebestplaceonEarthtodobusiness.Weneedtoreinindeficitsafteradecadeofrisingdebt,andreformourgove
