2、ElectricVehicles.Someoftheincentivesforthisstandardizationeffortincludecomponentsafety,compatibility,availability,andeconomics.Thetermbatterymoduleusedthroughoutthisdocumentimpliessecondarybatterymodules.Thedocumentaddressestheexternalfeaturesofabatterymoduleandhowtheyinterface

3、toabatterypacksystem,orvehiclesystem,withamajoremphasisonsafety.Onlycommerciallyavailableaqueousbatterysystemswhichcanbemodularizedwithintherecommendationsofthisdocumentwillbeconsidered.Thisdocumentalsoprovidesforthedefinitionofadditionalpackagesizesasnewvehiclebatterysystemreq

4、uirementsareidentifiedornewbatterytechnologiesbecomecommerciallyavailable.ModulesizescontainedhereinareagreeduponbyvehicleandbatterymanufacturersandcanserveasthebasisforBatteryCouncilInternationalGroupSizesandotherinternationalstandards.TheprocedureforacceptanceofanewSAEEVbatte

5、rystandardisasfollows:a.AlettertotheEVBatterySystemsStandardsCommitteeChairpersonmustbesubmittedbyavehiclemanufacturerandonebatterymanufacturerproposinganewSAEEVbatterysizeanddocumentationshowingcompliancetoSAEJ1797.b.Aletterofagreementwithanothervehiclemanufacturer,otherthanth
