2、gsystem,DrivingMonitoringRecorder(DMR)andAccidentDataRecorder(ADR)installedon20vehiclesinafleetofcarsinTokyoarea,inordertoassesstheimplicationsindrivingbehaviorandaccidents.The38subjects,whodrivethe20vehiclesweremonitoredduringdrivingbytheDMRforoneyear.Simultaneously
3、,thedatainpre-andpostaccidentwererecordedbyADRwheneveraccidentsoccurred.lnaddition,thedriverswereexaminedbyadrivingaptitudetest.ThedatabyDMRareanalyzedfocusingonfluencyofoccurrenceofemergencybrakeoperationand/orrapidstartperformanceasrepresentingdrivingbehaviorasatri
4、al.The23accidentcasesincludingcrossaccident,rear-endaccident,turningaccident,arecollectedbyADRforoneyear.Theaccidentdataareanalyzedfocusingonenvironmentalconditioninpre-accidentstageanddrivingbehavior.Relationshipsbetweendrivingbehaviorandaccidentareproposedasresults
5、ofdataanalysis.Inparticular,theaccidentmechanismsofspecificaccidents,inwhichthesubjectrankedcarelessdriverinvolvedcanbeexplainedintermsofdrivingbehavior,whichisdeterminedbyhiscognitionand/orjudgmentwhenheisfacingspecificenvironmentalsituations.Asetoftheautomaticrecor
6、dingsystemsofferveryclearbenefitstostudytrafficaccidentmechanisminparticularonthemannerofdrivingimmediatelybeforeaccident,andtheywillprovidehithertounavailableinformationinthefieldofroadsafety.1.INTRODUCTIONForthepreventionoftrafficaccidents,itisimportanttoclarifythe
7、relationshipbetweenthetrafficsituationimmediatelybeforetheoccurrenceofatrafficaccidentandthecharacteristicsofindividualdriver.Thismutualrelationship,however,issocomplicatedthataccidentinvestigationsconductedbasedonconventionalinvestigationtechniquesandmanyinspections
