3、thosewhopreferredadaughterastheirfirstchild. Whilethemajorityofcoupleswantedasonfirst,thereasonsbehindtheirgenderpreferenceswerevaried. Mostofthecoupleswhowantedaboy–45percent-saidtheyfeltthathavingasonwouldbe'lesshardwork'thanadaughter. Ontheotherhand,athird
4、saidtheywantedaboybecauseoldersonsarebetteratlookingaftertheiryoungersiblings. And19percentadmittedtheyprioritizehavingasonbecausetheywanthimtocarrythefamilyname. Buteventhoughboysarepreferredastheoldestchild,couplesdidnotruleouthavingagirlaltogether–37percent
5、saidtheywouldliketohaveadaughtersecond. Thestudyfoundthatwhileraisingaboyisperceivedaseasier,coupleswhowantedtohaveadaughterfirstseeoldergirlsas'betterrolemodels'totheiryoungersiblings.1
