2、ichweredegradedseverely.Whatitremarkablydiffersfromthetraditionalmethodsistheapplicationofpriorknowledgeoflicenseplatetotheprocedureoflocation,segmentationandrecognition.Colorcollocationisusedtolocatethelicenseplateintheimage.Dimensionsofeachcharacterarecon
3、stant,whichisusedtosegmentthecharacterofVLPs.TheLayoutoftheChineseVLPisanimportantfeature,whichisusedtoconstructaclassifierforrecognizing.Theexperimentalresultsshowthattheimprovedalgorithmiseffectiveundertheconditionthatthelicenseplatesweredegradedseverely.

5、ent,roadsurveysandparksecurity[1].VLPrecognitionsystemconsistsoftheplatelocation,thecharacterssegmentation,andthecharactersrecognition.Thesetasksbecomemoresophisticatedwhendealingwithplateimagestakeninvariousinclinedanglesorundervariouslighting,weathercondi
6、tionandcleanlinessoftheplate.Becausethisproblemisusuallyusedinreal-timesystems,itrequiresnotonlyaccuracybutalsofastprocessing.MostexistingVLPrecognitionmethods[2],[3],[4],[5]reducethecomplexityandincreasetherecognitionratebyusingsomespecificfeaturesoflocalV
7、LPsandestablishingsomeconstrainsontheposition,distancefromthecameratovehicles,andtheinclinedangles.Inaddition,neuralnetworkwasusedtoincreasetherecognitionrate[6],[7]butthetraditionalrecognitionmethodsseldomconsiderthepriorknowledgeofthelocalVLPs.Inthispaper
8、,weproposedanewimprovedlearningmethodofBPalgorithmbasedonspecificfeaturesofChineseVLPs.TheproposedalgorithmovercomesthelowspeedconvergenceofBPneuralnetwork[8]andremarkableincreasestherecognitionrateesp
