4、fferentmemoriesofSingaporeansfromallwalksoflife.BuildingsfromdifferentperiodsofSingapore’shistory–fromthedayswhenwewereamigrantsettlementtoourpostindependenceyears–arealsoconservedtocapturethedepthofSingapore’shistoryandroots.Conservationofourbuiltheritageisanintegralpartofurbanplanning

5、anddevelopmentinSingapore.Therestorationofourhistoricareasaddsvarietytoourstreetscapesandmodulatesthescaleofoururbanfabric,creatingthevisualcontrastandexcitementwithinthecitywhileprotectingtheimportantremindersandrepresentationsofourpast.Inaddition,itaddstothedistinctivecharacterandiden

6、tityofourcity,givingitasenseofhistoryandmemoryofplace.AspartofURA’son-goingeffortstofacilitatetheconservationofourbuiltheritage,asetofconservationguidelineshasbeenputinplacetoinformandguidethepubliconrestorationworks.Acomprehensivereviewoftheconservationguidelinesiscarriedoutregularlyin
