3、nstreaminorganic-basedsolarcells,suchassignificantlyreducedmaterial/fabricationcosts,flexiblesubstrates,andlightweightoffinishedsolarcells.Theresearchcommunityhasmadegreatprogressinthefieldofbulkheterojunction(BHJ)polymersolarcellssinceitsinceptionin1995.Thepowercon

4、versionefficiency(PCE),akeyparametertoassesstheperformanceofsolarcells,hasincreasedfrom1%inthe1990stoover8%justrecently.Thesegreatadvancesaremainlyfueledbythedevelopmentofconjugatedpolymersusedastheelectron-donatingmaterialsinBHJsolarcells.InthisPerspective,wefirstb

5、rieflyreviewtheprogressonthedesignofconjugatedpolymersforpolymersolarcellsinthepast16years.Sinceaconjugatedpolymercanbearbitrarilydividedintothreeconstitutingcomponentstheconjugatedbackbone,thesidechains,andthesubstituentswethenfocusontherationaldesignofconjugated

6、polymersbyseparatelydiscussingtheinfluenceofeachcomponentonthephysicalandphotovoltaic(PV)propertiesofthesepolymers.Specialattentionispaidtothedesignofdonor−acceptortypelow-band-gappolymersbecausethisapproachisprevailingintheliteraturewithitsuniquefeatures.Indoingso,
