1、TheHumbleAdministrator'sGardenisthelargestandmostfamousclassicgardeninSuzhou.Itsexquisitebeauty,artisticvalueandhistoricsignificantestablishedthegarden,asoneofChina'sfourmostfamousgardens,otherthreebeingtheSummerPalaceinBeijing,theMountainResortofChengdeinHebeiProvinceandtheLingeringGardeninSuzhou.
2、ItalsolistedasaWorldCulturalHeritagesitebyUnitedNationsEducational，Scientific，andCulturalOrganizationin1997.Coveringanareaof52,000squaremeters,theHumbleAdministrator'sGardenwasbegantobuiltin1509ADduringtheMingDynastyandwasfinishedafter16yearsofelaboratework.Theprivateresidenceisagovernmentadministr
3、atornamedWangXianchen.Itwassaidthathewastiredofofficiallifeandwanttobuildhimselfagardentodosomegardeningworklikeplantingtreesandvegetable,whichhebelievedshouldbealifeofahumbleman.In1513,WangXiancheng,angovernmentadministratorandpoetoftheMingDynasty,createdagardenonthesiteoftheDahongTemplewhichhadbe
4、enburntoutduringtheMingconquest.In1510,heretiredtohisnativehomeofSuzhouontheoccasionofhisfather'sdeath.Hehadexperiencedatumultuousofficiallifepunctuatedbyvariousdemotionsandpromotions,andgaveuphislastofficialpostasamagistrateofYongjiacountyinZhejiangprovince,andbegantoworkonthegarden.Thisgarden,mea
5、nttoexpresshisfinetaste,receivedcloseattentionfromtherenownedartist,aSuzhounative,andhisfriend,WenZhengming.ThegardenwasnamedbyaverseofafamousscholarofficialofJinDynasty,PanYue,inhisprosehesaid"Ienjoyacarefreelifebyplantingtreesandbuildingmyownhouse...Iirrigatemygardenandgrowvegetablesformetoeat...
6、suchalifesuitsretiredofficiallikemewell".Ittook16yearstocomplete.WenZhenmingwroteanessayforthisGarden,andpaintedLandscapesofitin1533including31paintingsandpoemstocommemoratethegarden.Wang'ssonlostthegardentopaygamblingdebts,andithaschangedhandsmanytimessince.In1631theeasterngardenwasdividedandpurch
7、asedbyWangXinyi,theViceMinisteroftheJusticeBoard.Headdedmanymodificationsoverthenextfouryears,finishingworkin1635.AftercompletionitwasrenamedasDwellingUponReturntotheCountryside.Thecentralgardenwaspurchased
