3、Iam. IfeelthatnotwithstandingthepastthatmypresencehereisoneadditionalbitofevidencethattheAmericandreamneednotforeverbedeferred.NowthatIhavethisgranddistinctionwhatisintheworldIsupposetosay?Icouldeasilyspendthistimepraisingtheaccomplishmentsofthisparty,andattackingtheRepublicans,butIdon'tchoos

4、etodothat.IcouldlistthemanyproblemswhichAmericanshave.Icanlisttheproblemswhichcausepeopletofeelcynical,angry,frustrated,problemswhichincludelackofintegrityingovernment,thefeelingthattheindividualnolongercounts,therealityofmaterialandspiritualpoverty,thefeelingthatthegrandAmericanexperimentisfa

5、ilingorhasfailed.IcouldrecitetheseproblemsandthenIcouldsitdownandoffernosolutions.ButIdon'tchoosetodothateither.ThecitizensofAmericaexpectmore;theydeserveandtheywantmorethanarecitalofproblems. Weareapeoplethatinaquandaryaboutthepresent;Weareapeopleinsearchofourfuture;Weareapeopleinsearchofana

6、tionalcommunity;Weareapeopletryingnotonlytosolvetheproblemsofthepresent:unemployment,inflation,butweareattemptingonalargerscaletofulfillthepromiseofAmerica;Weareattemptingtofulfillournationalpurposetocreateandsustainasocietyinwhichallofusareequal. Throughoutourhistorywhenpeoplehavelookedforne

7、wwaystosolvetheirproblemsandtoupholdtheprinciplesofthisnation,manytimestheyhaveturnedtopoliticalparties.TheyhaveoftenturnedtotheDemocraticParty.Whatisit?WhatisitabouttheDemocraticPartythatmakesittheinstrumentthepeopleusewhentheysearchfo
