3、atwillgotobedtonightwithoutnothingintheirstomachs.Someofthemwillbeaskingforfood,notabletounderstandthattheirparentssimplyhavenothingtogivethem.Andsomeofthemwillsimplybetooweaktoevencry.Formostofthestarvingchildren,faminewillnotbelethal.Nevertheless,thelackofvitam
4、insandmineralswillmostlikelygivethemblindness,deformitiesorbraindamage,whichtheywouldneverbeabletocure.Todayintheworld,therearemorethan150millionstarvingchildrenandmostofthemliveinthecountriesofAfrica.Thereasonsfortheirstarvationarenotmilitaryoperations,draughtso
5、rfloods.Itispoverty,pureandsimple.Andpovertymeansnotonlyfamine.Povertyalsomeansthatmostofthosestarvingchildrenhavetoworkfull-timejobsbecauseitistheonlywayforthemtosupporttheirfamilies.Morethan250millionchildrenallovertheglobeareworkingnowadays.Povertyalsomeanstha
6、tthosecountrieshavenomoneytofightthenaturaldisastersthatstriketheircontinent.Itisquestionablethatthefloodsandhurricanesaretheresultofthedevelopingtechnology,butitisclearthatalmostthewholecontinentofAfricaissopoorthatitcannotfightthosecatastrophes.Povertyalsomeans
7、thatmostofthedevelopingcountrieshavenomoneytopreventorcureeventhemostwidespreadillnesses.Suchdiseasesasmeaslesorchickenpox,whichhardlyworryanybodytoday,accountformillionsofchildrendeathsinthedevelopingcountrieseveryyearsimplybecausenobodygavethosechildrenashot.An
