3、,stateholidays,cityholidays,andsoon.NewYear'sDayJANUARY1CelebratesbeginningoftheGregoriancalendaryear.Festivitiesoftenincludecountdownstomidnight(12:00AM)ontheprecedingeveningMartinLutherKing,Jr.DayThirdMondayinJanuaryHonorsMartinLutherKing,Jr.,CivilRightsleader,whowas
4、actuallybornonJanuary15,1929;combinedwithotherholidaysinseveralstates.Washington'sBirthdayThirdMondayinFebruaryHonorsGeorgeWashington.Oftenpopularly,buterroneously,observedas"PresidentsDay"inrecognitionofotherAmericanpresidents,suchasAbrahamLincoln(whowasbornFebruary12
