3、er60isexpectedtonearlydoubled.In2015,therewere900millionpeopleover60,in2050,thenumbershouldbearound2billion.Agingpopulationsarebecomingahugeprobleminmanycountries,especiallydevelopingcounties.Itusedtobethatmanyelderlypeoplelivedwiththefamilyandhelpedtakecareof
4、thenextgeneration.Theyhadaplacetostayandpeoplethathelpedtotakecareofthemwhentheyneededanassistance.Nowhowever,manyelderlypeopleorseniorcitizensareleftontheirown.Thisispartlytheresultofpeoplehavingfewerchildrenandalsobecauseofthemassiveurbanization.Youngandmidd
5、le-agedauditshavelefttheruralareaforeconomicopportunitiesonlyavailableinlargeurbancenters.Asaresult,thereisnoonetocarefortheelderlywhowereleftbehindtoliveontheirown.Thisisespeciallytrueindevelopingcountries.Withanagingpopulation,healthproblembecomesagrowingcon
6、cern.Someoftheleadingconditionsthataccompanyagingincludingvisionproblems,hearingloss,diabetesanddimensionsuchasAlzheimerdisease.Theseproblemscanleadtodisabilitythatmakeitdifficulttolivewithoutassistance.WithdiseasessuchasAlzheimers,peoplelosetheirmemoryandareu
7、nabletorecognizetheirownchildren.Worldwide,morethan46%ofpeopleaged60andoverhavedisabilities.Givingmealsandmedicalcare,forexample,becomesbothexpensiveanddifficult.Asaresult,thecostsofprovidingservicestothesickanddisabledcanbecomeahugeproblem.
