2、e’scultureandeducation.mostoftheexistingbuildingsherewereconstructionsofthemingandqingdynasties,andthebulkoftheengravedstoneplatesandinscribedtabletshaveallbeenkeptintact,in1956theacademywaslistedasahistoricalsiteattheprovinciallevelandlater,in1988itbecameahistoricalsiteatthestatelevel.thelastr
3、estorationprojectstartedin1981andthemajorpartwascompletedin1987. ontheinnerwallsoftheplatformaretwobigchinesecharacters“fu”and“shuo”,whichmean“blessing”and“longevity”respectively.legendhasitthatthecharacter“shuo”waswrittenwithabroomsoakedinyellowmudbyataoistmasteratthetimemasterluodianwasatten
4、dingabanquetinhonouroftheexaminationofficialsandthosedispelswhohadpassedthecivilexamhenceithasbeenregardedashaving“celestialtouch”thecharacter“fu”waswrittenbyluodian,themasterhimself. thisgateinfrontofusisthemaingate,thegatewasformerlybuiltatthetimeofthesongdynasty,andwasthencalled“centralgate
5、”.themaingateunderwentbothdestructionandreconstructioninthecourseoftime.thepresentstructurewasoncethoroughlyrenovatedin1868. thecharacters“yueluacademy”onthehorizontaltabletwereinscribedbyemperorzhenzongofthesongdynasty.itwaspresentedasanawardtozhoushi,themasteroftheacademy,whenhewassummonedto
6、theemperor’spresence.onbothdoorpostsarecoupletswhichread“thekingdomofchu,uniquehomeofthetalents,theacademyofyuelu,theverycradleofall”.itwascomposedintheqingdynastybythemasteroftheacademy,yuanjiangangandhisdisciplezhangrenjie.thisisthelecturehall,wherethestudentshadlessonshere,itwasfirstbuiltatt
