3、gointoeffect,requiringretailersandmanufacturesaboveacertainsizedoingbusinessinCaliforniatodisclosemeasuresusedtotrackpossibleslaveryandhumantraffickingintheirsupplychains.Thedisclosureisaimedatprovidinginformationtoconsumers,allowingthemtomakebetter,moreinformedchoicesaboutthepr
4、oductstheybuyandthecompaniestheysupport.AspartofourcommitmenttobearesponsiblecompanytheEthicalSourcingprogramwasestablishedin1992.AkeypartofthatprogramisourStandard’sforSuppliers,whichareWalmart’sfundamentalexpectationsfromitssuppliersonsocialandenvironmentalconditions.TheStanda
5、rdscovertopicsincluding:compliancewithlaws,voluntarylabor,laborhours,hiringandemploymentpractices,compensation,freedomofassociationandcollectivebargaining,dormitoriesandcanteenandtheenvironment.Walmartrequireseverysuppliertosignanagreementthatthey,theircontractorsandsubcontracto
6、rswillabidebytheseStandards.Factoryauditsareusedtoverifysuppliers’compliancewiththeStandardsinthosefacilitiesproducingmerchandiseforWalmart.WhileauditinghadbeentheprimaryfocusofWalmart’sEthicalSourcingprogram,itwassoonrealizedthatethicalsourcinggoesfarbeyondmonitoringisalsoabout
