3、formationonwaterconservationefforts.ThemainpurposeofthisreportistoprovideupdatesonrecentongoingactivitiesatDEPandonotherNewYorkCitywaterconservationefforts.1WaterEfficiency&ReuseProgramsDEPimplementsanumberofprogramstopromoteefficientuseofwateranddetect,target,andfixleakingcomponentsinthewatersupp

4、lysystem.Systemspecificprograms,suchasleaknotificationandleakmanagementprogramsaredesignedtomonitorsystemdistributionandunaccounted-for-water(UAW).Openhydrantemergencyresponsesystems,watersavingkitsandresidentialsurveysarealsoimplementedbyDEPtomaintainsystemefficiencyandoptimization.Severalpropert

5、iesinNewYorkCity(NYC)haveimplementedwaterreuseinitiativesandhavetakenadvantageoftheComprehensiveWaterReuseProgram.DEPisconsideringreplacingthisprogramwithanincentivebasedprogramwhichwillexpandeligibilitycriteria.DEPbeganimplementationofacitywidefixed-networkautomaticmeterreading(AMR)systeminAugust

6、2008withthestartofinstallationworkforDataCollectionUnits(DCUs)aroundthecityaspartofNewYorkCityDepartmentofInformation,TechnologyandTelecommunication’sNYCWiNcitywidewirelesssystem.Replacementofmostpre-1998watermetersandinstallationoftheAMRdevicesorMeterTransmissionUnits(MTUs)onallwatermeterswaslarg

7、elycompletedbetween2009and2011.Asoftheendof2011,networkcompletionwas92%withmostoftheremainingDCUstobeinstalledincentralStatenIsland.DEPwillmovefromhavingmetersreadfourtimesayearwithan85%actualreadrateoverall,tofo
