8、herskills.TherewasadeclineinGaelicspeakersfrom1991(65,978)to2001(58,652).ThisdeclinewasparticularlynoticeableinthetraditionalheartlandsoftheGaidhealtachd(Gaelic-speakingarea)inthenorthwesternpartsofScotland.Thiswasalsoconnectedwithlossofpopula
