3、s,lookingat72,845schoolchildrenaged13to15fromNorthandSouthAmerica,Asia,Europe,andtheMiddleEast.Thechildrenweresurveyedbetween2003and2007.Theresearchersdefinedadequatephysicalactivityasatleastanhourofexerciseoutsideofgymclassatleastfivedaysaweek.ChildrenwhospentthreeormorehoursadaywatchingTV,playingc
4、omputergames,orchattingwithfriends--asidefromtimeinschoolortimespentdoinghomework--wereclassifiedassedentary.Theresearchersfoundonlyonequarteroftheboysand15percentofthegirlsweregettingenoughexercisebythesedefinitions.Aquarterofboysandnearly30percentofgirlsweresedentaryanddidn'tgetenoughexercisewithg
5、irlslessactivethanboysineverycountryasidefromZambia.Uruguayhadthehighestpercentageofactiveboys,at42percent,whileZambiahadthelowest,at8percent.GirlsfromIndiawerethemostactive,with37percentmeetingexerciserecommendations,whilegirlsfromEgyptweretheleastactive,withjust4percentgettingadequateexercise.Chil
6、dreninMyanmarweretheleastsedentary,with13percentofboysand8percentofgirlsclassifiedassedentary.ThemostsedentarynationswereSt.LuciaandtheCaymanIslands,with58percentofboysand64percentofgirlsspendingatleastthreehoursadayinsedentaryactivities.Whilethestudydidn'tlookatthereasonsbehindthelackofphysicalacti
