2、cerningthefunctionsoftheAssemblyinrelationtoregulationsandguidelinesconcerningmaritimesafety,BEARINGINMINDthatregulationII-2/15.2.4oftheInternationalConventionfortheSafetyofLifeatSea(SOLAS),1974,asamended,requiresthatfirecontrolplansbepermanentlyexhibitedfortheguidanceoftheship’sofficersandthatad
3、uplicatesetoffirecontrolplansorabookletcontainingsuchplansbepermanentlystoredinaprominentlymarkedweathertightenclosureoutsidethedeckhousefortheassistanceofshore-sidefire-fightingpersonnel,RECOGNIZINGthattheuseofinternationalsymbolsforshipboardfirecontrolplanswouldgreatlyincreasetheirusefulness,bo
4、thforthecrewoftheshipandforshore-basedfirebrigades,RECALLINGALSOresolutionA.654(16)onGraphicalsymbolsforfirecontrolplans,NOTINGthatISOhad,incloseco-operationwithIMO,developedstandardISO17631:2002–Shipsandmarinetechnology–Shipboardplansforfireprotection,life-savingappliancesandmeansofescape,provid
5、ingfireprotectionsymbolswhichgenerallyconformtothecorrespondingsymbolssetoutinresolutionA.654(16),NOTINGINPARTICULARthat,throughMSC/Circ.1050,MemberGovernmentshadbeeninvitedtobringstandardISO17631:2002totheattentionofshipbuilders,shipowners,shipoperators,shipmasters,shore-basedfire-fightingperson
6、nelandotherpartiesconcernedwiththepreparationoruseofshipboardfirecontrolplans,sothattheymightuseit,onavoluntarybasis,forthepreparationoruseoftheshipboardfirecontrolplansrequiredbySOLASregulationII-2/15.2.4,pendingtheoutcomeoftheworkrelatedtotherevisionofresolutionA.654(16),Forreasonsofeconomy,thi
