2、e.Iseemany,manyfamiliarfacesandsomegoodfriendsinthisaudience.AndIparticularlywanttothankAssistantSecretaryKurtCampbellfordrivingnotonlythisprogram,butsomuchthatwehaveaccomplishedinthelastfouryearstodeepenandstrengthenourrelationshipwithChinaandothersintheregion,butparti
3、cularlywithChina,asitissucha consequentialrelationship,onethatwebelievesostronglyin.AmbassadorZhang,onceagain,welcometotheStateDepartment.Becauseitis,forus,awayofmakingclearthatourrelations,government-to-government,areobviouslyessential.Butitisthosepeople-to-peopletiest
4、hataregoingtodeterminethequalityoftherelationshipforthefuture.OurengagementwithChinatodaydealswithawiderangeofthemostpressingchallengesandthemostexcitingopportunities.AndwhenwebeganlookingatwaystomakeourexchangeswithChinamoreproductive,weofcourserampedupourdiplomaticeng
5、agement.WetookdelegationsofinvestorsandentrepreneurstoChina.WeinstitutionalizedtheStrategicandEconomicDialogue.Weareveryclearthatwhatwe’vetriedtobuild,anarchitecturethatwillstandthetestoftimeregardlessofwhatisgoingonineitherofourcountries,hasbeenanessentialeffort.Andin2
6、010,welaunchedthe100,000StrongInitiative.AndasKurtsaid,thisisaimedatincreasingthenumberofAmericanstudentsstudyinginChinato100,000overfouryears.Wefocusedonstudentexchangesbecausewebelievethatthefutureisveryclearlyinthehandsoftheyoungpeopleofbothofourcountries.Andthemorew
7、ecanfosterexchangesandunderstanding,mutualtrust,thebetteroffnotonlytherelationshipwillbe,buteachofourcountriesindividually.Wehavetohavefarmorethanconversationswithdiplomatsorjournalistsorleadersorbusinesspeople.There’snothingmoreimportantthantryingtobuildastructureofexc
