2、lutionA.886(21),bywhichtheAssemblyresolvedthatthefunctionsofadoptingperformancestandardsforradioandnavigationalequipment,aswellasamendmentsthereto,shallbeperformedbytheMaritimeSafetyCommitteeonbehalfoftheOrganization,RECALLINGFURTHERtheprovisionsofthenewchapterXI
3、-2oftheInternationalConventionfortheSafetyofLifeatSea(SOLAS),1974,asamended,andtherequirementsofregulationXI-2/5,thatallshipsshallbeprovidedwithashipsecurityalertsystem,RECOGNIZINGthat,forsecurityreasons,ashipsecurityalertsystemisnecessaryonboardforinitiatingandt
4、ransmittingaship-to-shoresecurityalerttoacompetentauthoritydesignatedbytheAdministration,HAVINGCONSIDEREDtherecommendationonrevisionofresolutionMSC.136(76)madebytheSub-CommitteeonRadiocommunicationsandSearchandRescueatitsseventhsession,1.ADOPTStheRevisedRecommend
5、ationonPerformanceStandardsforaShipSecurityAlertSystem,setoutintheAnnextothepresentresolution;2.RECOMMENDSGovernmentstoensurethatashipsecurityalertsystem:(a)ifinstalledonorafter1July2004,conformstoperformancestandardsnotinferiortothosespecifiedintheAnnextothepres
