BSEN14411:2003NationalforewordThisBritishStandardistheofficialEnglishlanguageversionofEN14411:2003.EN14411:2003isacandidate“harmonized”EuropeanStandardandfullytakesintoaccounttherequirementsoftheEuropeanCommissionmandateM/119,Floorings,andM/121,Internalandexternalwallandceilingf
3、inishes,givenundertheEUConstructionProductsDirective(89/106/EEC),andintendedtoleadtoCEmarking.ThedateofapplicabilityofEN14411:2003asa“harmonized”EuropeanStandard,i.e.thedateafterwhichthisstandardmaybeusedforCEmarkingpurposes,issubjecttoanannouncementintheOfficialJournaloftheEuropeanCommunities.TheCo
4、mmissioninconsultationwithMemberStateshaveagreedatransitionperiodfortheco-existenceof“harmonized”EuropeanStandardsandtheircorrespondingnationalstandard(s).Itisintendedthatthisperiodwillcompriseaperiod,usuallyninemonths,afterthedateofavailabilityoftheEuropeanStandard,duringwhichanyrequiredchangestona
5、tionalregulationsaretobemade,followedbyafurtherperiod,usuallytwelvemonths,fortheimplementationofCEmarking.Attheendofthisco-existenceperiod,thenationalstandard(s)willbewithdrawn.EN14411:2003isthesubjectoftransitionalarrangementsagreedundertheCommissionmandate.IntheUK,thecorrespondingnationalstandards
