2、rd(FourthRevision)wasadoptedbytheBureauofIndianStandards,afterthedraftfinalizedbytheSteelTubes,PipesandFittingsSectionalCommitteehadbeenapprovedbytheMetallurgicalEngineeringDivisionCouncilThisstandardwasfirstpublishedin1958anditsfirst,secondandthirdrevisionswereissuedin1963.1968and1979resp

3、ectively.Whilereviewingthestandard,theCommitteehasfeltitnecessarytorevisethisIndianStandardwiththefollowingmodifications:a)ThicknessandmassisalignedwithIS1239(Part1):1990.b)Allamendmentshavebeenincorporated.Intheformulationofthisstandard,dueconsiderationhasbeengiventothetradepracticesfollo

4、wedinthecountryinthisfield.Dueconsiderationhasalsobeengiventointernationalco-ordinationamongthestandardsprevailingindifferentcountries.Assistancehasbeenderivedfromthefollowingpublications:ISO/R336:1976Plainendsteeltubes,weldedorseamless;generaltableofdimensionsandmassesperunitlength.Intern

5、ationalOrganizationforStandardization.BS6323:1982Steeltubesfor-mechanicalandgeneralengineeringpurposes.BritishStandardsInstitution.Thisstandardcontainsclauses8.1andX2.1whichcallforagreementbetweenthepurchaserandthemanufacturer.Forthepurposeofdecidingwhetheraparticularrequirementofthisstand

6、ardiscompliedwith,thefinalvalue,observedorcalculated,expressingtheresultofatestoranalysis,shallberoundedoffinaccordancewithIS2:1960Rulesforroundingoffnumericalvalues(revised).Thenumberofsignificantplacesretainedintheroundedoffvalueshouldbethesameasthatofthespecifiedvalueinthisstandard.IS11
