4、enon-hazardousorfreefromrisk.FOREWORDThisstandardhasbeendevelopedbytheAir-Conditioning,Heating,andRefrigerationInstitute(AHRI)forthepurposeofestablishingauniformindustryprocedureforestimatingSoundPressureLevelsinoccupiedspacesservedbyAirTerminalsand/
5、orairoutlets.AHRIStandard885establishesuniformapplicationpracticesformakingAirTerminalsoundpathattenuationcalculations.Suchstandardsandprocedureswillbeofmutualbenefittodesigners,engineers,consultants,buildingownersandotherusersforthepurposeofprovidin
6、gbuildingdesigninformationtomeetacousticgoals.ItshouldberecognizedthattheacousticalmodelsanddatausedinAHRIStandard885arebasedonthebestavailabledatafromboththeAmericanSocietyofHeating,RefrigeratingandAirConditioningEngineers(ASHRAE)andrecognizedindust
7、rysources.UseofAHRIStandard885acousticalcalculationproceduresshouldprovideamethodologyforsignificantlyimprovingthereliabilityofestimatingtheNCorRClevelsintheoccupiedspaceoverthemoresimplifiedacousticalmodelsthathaveoftenbeenusedinthepast.Theaccuracyo
