1、Direct-CurrentNanogeneratorDrivenbyUltrasonicWavesAbstract:Wehavedevelopedananowirenanogeneratorthatisdrivenbyanultrasonicwavetoproducecontinuousdirect-currentoutput.Thenanogeneratorwasfabricatedwithverticallyalignedzincoxidenanowirearraysthatwereplacedbeneathazigzagmetalelectrodewitha

2、smallgap.Thewavedrivestheelectrodeupanddowntobendand/orvibratethenanowires.Apiezoelectric-semiconductingcouplingprocessconvertsmechanicalenergyintoelectricity.Thezigzagelectrodeactsasanarrayofparallelintegratedmetaltipsthatsimultaneouslyandcontinuouslycreate,collect,andoutputelectricit

3、yfromallofthenanowires.Theapproachpresentsanadaptable,mobile,andcost-effectivetechnologyforharvestingenergyfromtheenvironment,anditoffersapotentialsolutionforpoweringnanodevicesandnanosystems.Introduction:Theoperationofnanodevicesfabricatedwithone-dimensionalnanostructures[suchasnanowi

4、res,nanotubes,andnanobelts]usuallyrequiresverylowpower,whichisprovidedbyanexternalsource,suchasabatterythatmayhavetobereplacedorrechargedregularly.Therelianceonanexternalpowersourcemaypresentalimitationforthesesystems.Variousapproacheshavebeendevelopedforenergyscavengingwithapplication

5、sinwirelesselectronics,suchasthermoelectric,piezoelectricthin-film,andvibrationalcantilevers.Wehaverecentlydemonstratedaninnovativeapproachforconvertingnanoscalemechanicalenergyintoelectricenergybypiezoelectriczincoxide(ZnO)nanowire(NW)arrays.BydeflectingthealignedNWswithaconductiveato

6、micforcemicroscopy(AFM)tipincontactmode,themechanicalenergycreatedbythedeflectionforcewasconvertedintoelectricitywiththeuseofthepiezoelectricpropertiesoftheNWs.Toimprovethepowergenerationcapabilitiesofthesystem,itisnecessarytoreplacetheAFMtipwithasimplersourceofmechanicalenergythatcana
