3、la.CurrentstudentactivismalsoappearstoreinforcetheradicalimageoftheLatinAmericanuniversitystudent.InVenezuela,thenonparliamentaryLeft,theMIRandMAS(aleftsplitfromtheCPV)aremajorforcesattheCentralUniversityinCaracas;attheUniversityofSanMarcos,FidelistaandMaoistfactionshavefors
4、everalyearswondemocraticstudentelections.InColombia,thePastranagovern-mentandbeforeittheLlerasregimesentmilitaryforcesontothecampusestosuppressleft-wingpoliticalactivity.InBrazil(beforethemilitarydictatorshipeliminatedallpretenseofintellectualandpoliticalfreedom),Marxistsand
5、CatholicLeftstudentsdominateduniversitypolitics.InArgentinaandUruguay,studentbodieshaveincreasinglysuppliedtherecruitsforgrowingguerrillamovements.2Inthemidstofallthisstudentradicalism,pastandpresent,throughoutthehemisphere,welearnthatthestudentsoftheUniversityofChile-locate
