2、ainlesssteel,wasquenchedandwatercooledtoroomtemperature．NumericalsimulationusingahybridFDM／FEMpackagewasalsocarriedouttosimulatetheheattreatmentprocess．Asaresult，thethermalstressfieldswereobtainedfromboththeexperimentandthenumericalsimulation．Bycomparisonofstressfields,resultsfromthe

5、stressmayrevealnewbeneficialoperatingcapabilities．Therefore,itisnecessaryandimportanttodeterminetheresidualstressesinrealstructures．Todeterminetheresidualstresses，manystressmeasurementmethodshavebeendeveloped．Someofthosemethodsaredestructiveandsomenondestructive．Thedestructivemethods

6、relyonthemonitoringofchangesincomponentdistortion,eitherduringthegenerationoftheresidualstressesorafterward,bydeliberatelyremovingmaterialtoallowthestressestorelax，whilenondestructivemethodssuchasXRD(X—RayDiffraction)mostlyusediffraction．Ingeneral,nondestructivemethodscangivethehighe

7、raccuracythandestructive.Butitisalsoaveryhigh-costsolution．Inmostofengineeringfield，destructivemethodslikehole-drillingstraingaugemethodorotherscangiveenoughaccuracywithmuchlowercost.Amongthosedestructivemethodsforresidualstressmeasurement,theso-calledhole-drillingmethodiswidelyused．
