3、lityofmethanedrainageboreholesduringtheextractionlifeofanactivelongwallcoalpanelwithinaUnitedKingdomcoalmine.Themodellingwasundertakentoinvestigatetheaffectsthatchangesintheroofgeologyandroadwaysupportsystemmayhaveonthedeformationandclosureofthegasdrainageboreholesdrille

4、dfromthetailgateacrossthegoafofanactivelongwallpanel.Thepaperalsooutlinesthedevelopmentofananalyticalmodeltoestimatethebendingdeformation,axialstrain,andtheruptureofboreholecasingduetorockshear.Thismodelwasusedinconjunctionwiththegeomechanicalstratamodelstopredictthedist

5、ancebehindthefacelineatwhichexcessiveboreholedeformationandclosurewouldoccur.Thismethodwasusedtoevaluatetheoptimumroadwaysupportsystemandspacingbetweenboreholestomaintaineffectiveboreholedrainagesubjecttotherangeofgeologicalconditionsencounteredduringthepanelretreat.Agoo
