1、GUIDELINESONANCHORINGSYSTEMSFORMODUs1TheMaritimeSafetyCommittee,atitssixty-sixthsession(28Mayto6June1996),havingnotedtheprovisionsofsection4.11ofthe1989MODUCode,approvedtheGuidelinesonanchoringsystemsforMODUspreparedbytheSub-CommitteeonShipDesignandEquipment,assetoutintheannex,
2、andagreedthattheGuidelinesshouldbereferredtointhefootnotetosection4.11oftheCode.2MemberGovernmentsareinvitedtobringtheGuidelinestotheattentionofbodiesconcernedforapplicationasappropriate.ANNEXPREAMBLEReferenceismadetothePreambleof1989MODUCode.1Application1.1Theseguidelinessuppl
3、ementSection4.11ofthe1989MODUCode.1.2WhenanassessmentofaMODUrsanchoringperformanceaccordingtothe1989IMOMODUCodeisrequired,theseguidelinesmaybeappliedforunitswhoseprimarymethodofpositionkeepingisprovidedbyaspreadcatenaryanchoringsystem.1.3Theseguidelinesmayalsobeusedformobileoff
4、shoreunits(MOUs)otherthanMODUs,e.g.,accommodationurdts,tendervessels,cranebarges,etc.2Generalprinciples2.1Thedesignofaspreadcatenaryanchoringsystemshouldbebasedupontheunitsoperatingrequirementsinrelationtothedesignspecificationoftheanchoringsystem,thesystemcapability/operabilit
5、y,integrityandreliability.Thereshouldalsobemeansofrelatingthedesignlimitationstotheproposedlocationsandsitespecificenvironmentalconditions.2.2Anchoringanalysisshouldbedevelopedinparallelwithsuchoperationalpractices(e.g.lineadjustment,anduseofpropulsion)asareachievableinatimelym
6、annerandwhichareintendedtobeusedinpractice.1Anchoringanalysis1.1Anchoringanalysisshouldbeconductedtodemonstratethattheunitcan,eitheratproposedlocationsandsitespecificconditionsorgenerally,withstand:.1acceptableenvironmentalconditionsduringoperation;and.2maximumdesignenvironment
7、alconditions.Theanchoringanalysisshouldalsocovertheeffectofsinglelinefailures.1.2Themaximumdesignenvironmentalconditionusedintheanalysisshouldbedeterminedonthebasisofariskanalysisconsideringboththelocalenvironmentalconditions(eithersitespecificorgenerallyforthearea)andtheconseq
