2、eceiVed:June27,2007;InFinalForm:October12,2007APrussianblue(PB)filmwasdepositedonaglassycarbon(GC)electrodebycyclicvoltammetryinthepresenceofthecationicsurfactantcetyltrimethylammoniumbromide(CTAB).Theelectrodethusformedshowed4-foldenhancementsinredoxcurrentandchargevaluesinpureKC

3、lelectrolyteaswellasgreaterstabilitythananelectrodepreparedintheabsenceofCTAB.ThisimprovedperformanceofaPB+CTABelectrodeversusaPBelectrodewasfurtherdemonstratedusingSEM,XRD,andelectrochemicalimpedancespectroscopy(EIS)measurements.Acomparativestudywasundertakenonthecationtransportc

4、haracteristicsofPBandPB+CTABelectrodesforNa+,Li+,andNH+4ions.WeobtainedaCVpatternforaCTAB-promotedPBfilm,whichshowedidealNernstianbehavioratallscanratesfrom5to140mVs-1.ConditionsfortheformationandpreservationoftheseidealandstablePBfilmsarediscussed.Possiblemechanismsforthebenefici

5、aleffectsofCTABareproposed.1.Introductionplicationsarealsovalidforelectrocatalyticapplications.ThebeneficialroleofCTABinthemodificationofabareelectrodePrussianblue(PB)(iron(III)hexacyanoferrate(II))isthewithPBfilmisemphasized.TheimprovedPB-modifiedprototypetransitionmetalhexacyani
