6、mple,PiesseandKhatri(2002)examinedtheimpactoffamilyownershiponfirmperformanceandsupportedtheviewattributingfirmvulnerabilitytothedegreeoffamilyinvolvement.However,notallAsiancountrieswereaffectedbythecrisis,despiteevidenceofaclosefamilyownershipstructure(Rajana
7、ndZingales,1998).Clearly,therearesubstantialdifferencesinthenationaleconomicenvironmentintheregion,whilecommonelementssuchasculturalbackground,thenatureandextentofinstitutionsandthelevelofeconomicdevelopmentremain.Indeed,asinglemodelofcorporategovernanceforAsia
