5、o,ifsomethingissaidnottobeascience,itdoesnotmeanthatthereissomethingwrongwithit;itjustmeansthatitisnotascience.3-2ChemistryThesciencewhichisperhapsthemostdeeplyaffectedbyphysicsischemistry.Historically,theearlydaysofchemistrydealtalmostentirelywithwhatwenowcallin
6、organicchemistry,thechemistryofsubstanceswhicharenotassociatedwithlivingthings.Considerableanalysiswasrequiredtodiscovertheexistenceofthemanyelementsandtheirrelationships—howtheymakethevariousrelativelysimplecompoundsfoundinrocks,earth,etc.Thisearlychemistrywasve
7、ryimportantforphysics.Theinteractionbetweenthetwoscienceswasverygreatbecausethetheoryofatomswassubstantiatedtoalargeextentbyexperimentsinchemistry.Thetheoryofchemistry,i.e.,ofthereactionsthemselves,wassummarizedtoalargeextentintheperiodicchartofMendeleev,whichbri
