1、TheEvolutionofReason:LogicasaBranchofBiologyWILLIAMS.COOPERCAMBRIDGEUNIVERSITYPRESSTheEvolutionofReasonFormallogichastraditionallybeenconceivedasbearingnospecialrelationshiptobiology.Recentdevelopmentsinevolutionarytheorysuggest,however,thatthetwosubjectsmaybeintimatelyrelated.Inthisbook,Willi

2、amCooperpresentsacarefullysupportedtheoryofrationalityinwhichlogicallawisseenasanintrinsicaspectoftheprocessofevolution.Thisbiologicalperspectiveonlogic,thoughatpresentunorthodox,suggestsnewevolutionaryfoundationsforthestudyofhumanandanimalreasoning.ProfessorCooperexaminestheformalconnectionsb
