3、euristicmethod(HM)wereusedtodevelopthenon-linearandlinearmodelsbetweentheretentiontime(RT)andfivemoleculardescriptorsof149volatileorganiccompounds(VOCs).Descriptorscalculatedfromthemolecularstructuresalonewereusedtorepresentthecharacteristicsofcompounds.Thefivemoleculardescriptorsselectedbyt
4、heheuristicmethodinCODESSAwereusedasinputsforSVM.TheresultsobtainedbySVMwerecomparedwiththoseobtainedbytheheuristicmethod.Themeansquarederrors(MSE)inRTpredictionsforthewholedatasetgivenbyHMandSVMwere1.270and0.844,respectively,whichshowstheperformanceofSVMmodelisbetterthanthatoftheHMmodel.T
