3、ngintheirrespectiveargumentsofperihelion.Whileseveralhypotheseshavebeenputforwardtoexplainthisalignment,todate,atheoreticalmodelthatcansuccessfullyaccountfortheobservationsremainselusive.InthisworkweshowthattheorbitsofdistantKuiperBeltobjects(KBOs)clusternoton

4、lyinargumentofperihelion,butalsoinphysicalspace.Wedemonstratethattheperihelionpositionsandorbitalplanesoftheobjectsaretightlyconfinedandthatsuchaclusteringhasonlyaprobabilityof0.007%tobeduetochance,thusrequiringadynamicalorigin.Wefindthattheobservedorbitalalignm

5、entcanbemaintainedbyadistanteccentricplanetwithmass10m⊕whoseorbitliesinapproximatelythesameplaneasthoseofthedistantKBOs,butwhoseperihelionis180°awayfromtheperiheliaoftheminorbodies.Inadditiontoaccountingfortheobservedorbitalalignment,theexistenceofsuchaplanet

6、naturallyexplainsthepresenceofhigh-perihelionSedna-likeobjects,aswellastheknowncollectionofhighsemimajoraxisobjectswithinclinationsbetween60°and150°whoseoriginwaspreviouslyunclear.Continuedanalysisofbothdistantandhighlyinclinedoutersolarsystemobjectsprovidesth
