3、ork,wetrainnear-termquantumcircuitstoclassifydatarepresentedbynon-orthogonalquantumprobabilitydistributionsusingtheAdamstochasticopti-mizationalgorithm.Thisisachievedbyiterativeinteractionsofaclassicaldevicewithaquantumprocessortodiscovertheparametersofanunknownnon-unitaryquantumcircui
4、t.Thiscircuitlearnstosimulatestheunknownstructureofagener-alizedquantummeasurement,orPositive-Operator-Value-Measure(POVM),thatisrequiredtooptimallydistinguishpossibledistributionsofquantuminputs.No-tablyweuseuniversalcircuittopologies,withatheoreticallymotivatedcircuitde-sign,whichgua
5、ranteesthatourcircuitscaninprinciplelearntoperformarbitraryinput-outputmappings.Ournumericalsimulationsshowthatshallowquantumcircuitscouldbetrainedtodiscriminateamongvariouspureandmixedquantumstatesexhibitingatrade-offbetweenminimizingerroneousandinconclusiveout-comeswithcomparableperf
6、ormancetotheoreticallyoptimalPOVMs.Wetrainthecircuitondifferentclassesofquantumdataandevaluatethegeneralizationerroronunseenmixedquantumstates.Thisgeneralizationpowerhencedistin-guishesourworkfromstandardcircuitoptimizationandprovidesanexampleofquantummachinelearningforataskthathasinhe
