6、thephaseofadiffractionimage.Here,weusea“defocusedbeam”generatedbyananofabricatedhologramtoformareferencewavethatcanbeinterferedwithadiffractedbeam.ThissetupprovidesanextendedinterferenceregionwiththesamplewavefunctionintheFraunhoferplane.Asacasestudy,weretrievethephaseo
7、fanelectronvortexbeam.Beyondthisspecificexample,theapproachcanbeusedtoretrievethewavefrontsofdiffractedbeamsfromawiderangeofsamples.Inlightopticsandelectronmicroscopy,theintensitydistributioninarealspaceimageoradiffractionimageofasampleisusuallyrecorded,whilephaseinform
8、ationislost.Forthisreason,significantefforthasbeenaimedatdevelopingmethodsthatcanbeusedtoretrievephasedistribu
