4、abundanceofcelldivisionandcellcyclegenesinthedrought-stressedovaryonly.AmongGeneOntologycategoriesrelatedtocarbohydratemetabolism,changesinstarchandSucmetabolism-relatedgenesoccurredintheovary,consistentwithadecreaseinstarchlevels,andinSuctransporterfunction,withnocomparablechangesoccurrin

5、gintheleafmeristem.Abscisicacid(ABA)-relatedprocessesrespondedpositively,butonlyintheovaries.Relatedresponsessuggestedtheoperationoflowglucosesensingindrought-stressedovaries.Thedataarediscussedinthecontextofthesusceptibilityofmaizekerneltodroughtstressleadingtoembryoabortionandtherelative

6、robustnessofdividingvegetativetissuetakenatthesametimefromthesameplantsubjectedtothesameconditions.OurworkinghypothesisinvolvessignalingeventsassociatedwithincreasedABAlevels,decreasedglucoselevels,disruptionofABA/sugarsignaling,activationofprogrammedcelldeath/senescencethroughrepressionof
