4、sedtosupportlowlatency,lowpacketlossIPmobility.Inthispaper,weshowthatthelocationmanagementschemeusedinSIGMAcanenhancethesurvivabilityofthemobilenetwork.WedevelopananalyticalmodeltoevaluatethesurvivabilityofSIGMAascomparedtothatofMobileIP.Numericalresul
5、tshaveshowntheimprovementinsystemresponsetimeandserviceblockingprobabilityofSIGMAoverMobileIPinpracticalenvironmentsundertheriskofhardwarefailuresanddistributedDoSattacks.I.INTRODUCTIONMobileIP(MIP)[1]isdesignedtohandlemobilityofInternethostsatthenetwo
6、rklayer.SeveraldrawbacksexistwhenusingMIPinamobilecomputingenvironment,oneofwhichislowsurvivabilityduetosingle-pointfailureofHomeAgents.MobileIPisbasedontheconceptofHomeAgent(HA)forrecordingthecurrentlocationoftheMobileHost(MH)andforwardingpacketstoMHw
7、henitmovesoutofitshomenetwork.InMIP,thelocationdatabaseofallthemobilenodesaredistributedacrossalltheHAsthatarescatteredatdifferentlocations(homenetworks).Accordingtoprinciplesofdistributedcomputing,thisapproachappearstohavegoodsurvivability.However,the
8、rearetwomajordrawbackstothislocationmanagementschemeasgivenbelow:•Eachuser'slocationandaccountinformationcanonlybeaccessiblethroughitsHA.ThetransparentreplicationoftheHA,ifnotimpossible,isnotaneasytaskasitinvolvesextrasignalingsupportas
