3、iew.Attheheartofnano-opticsarelight-matterinteractionsonthenanometerscale.Opticalinteractionswithnanoscalematterareencounteredinvariousfieldsofre-search.Forexample,theactivityofproteinsandothermacromoleculesisfollowedbyopticaltechniques,opticallyexcitedsinglemoleculesareusedtoprobethei
4、rnano-environmentandopticalinteractionswithsemiconductornanostructures(quantumwells/wires/dots)areactivelyinvestigatedbecauseoftheirtechnologicalpromiseasnanocompositematerialsorquantumcoherentdevices.Furthermore,variousnano-metricstructuresareencounteredinnear-fieldopticsastinylightso
5、urces.Torigorouslyunderstandlight-matterinteractionsweneedtoinvokequantumelectrodynamics(QED).Therearemanytextbooksthatprovideagoodunderstand-ingofopticalinteractionswithatomsormoleculesandweexpeciallyrecommendthebooksinRefs.[1-3].Sincenanometerscalestructuresareoftentoocomplextobesol
