7、readingroom,writingnovelsandreadingwhathehadmissedatschool,andhiseveningsinsearchofadditionalself-educationinthelecturesanddebatesthatcharacterizedcontemporarymiddle-classLondonintellectualactivities.Hisfictionfailedutterly.ThesemiautobiographicalandaptlytitledImm
