2、guethatChinesephilosophersdealtwiththesameWesternissues,Idobelievethatacomparativestudyofthisnaturecanpointtoanewdirectionofthink-ingconcerningmetaphysicalponderinginNeo-Confucianism.Thisarticleisdividedintothreeparts.InPartI,IemployRobertNozick’snotionofnaturalcosmicstatetoanalyzethefu

3、ndamentaldifferencebetweentheConfucianandDaoistcosmologies.EventhoughthisnotionofnaturalcosmicstatehasnocomparablematchinChinesephilosophy,itmayserveasananalyticandexplanatorydeviceforourcomparativestudyofChinesecosmology.InPartII,IemployNicholasRescher’sdistinctionbetween“lawsofnature”
