4、Endurancetestingofaheavy-dutydieselenginerevealedperformancedeteriorationovertime.Oildeposits,resultingfromoilmistassociatedwiththeclosedcrankcaseventilationloop,wereobservedontheturbochargercompressorandweretiedtothedeterioration.Cleaningofthecompressorrecoveredinitialperforma
5、nceforashortperiodoftime.Adifferentmodelofturbocharger,whensubstitutedfortheoriginal,didnotshowthesamedegradationinoutput.Thispaperpresentsastudyintotheresponsiblemechanismsforperformancedeteriorationandthecompressorredesignthatsuccessfullyavoidedtheseissues.Theresultsofnumeric
6、alandphysicalinvestigationsaimedatmitigatingthesystemimpactarediscussed,startingwithanoverviewoftheobservedengineandcompressorperformancedecline,andanoutlineofpotentialareasofperformancesensitivitytooilaccumulation.Ultimately,thedegradationofsystemperformancewastiedtothesystemr
