1、CAMEditorReverseEngineeringPCBsSubmittedbyadminonFri,09/26/2008-14:31Thisarticlelooksatreverse-engineeringaPCBlayoutdirectlyfromCAMfilesloadedintoAltiumDesigner'sCAMEditor(CAMtastic®).AfterimportingCAMdataintoaCAMdocument,youwillnoticethattheExporttoPCBoptionisgrayed-
2、out,regardlessofthecurrentCAMEditormode(CAMorNC).Thiscommandallowsyoutoreverse-engineeraPCBlayoutdirectlyfromCAMfiles.Thisdoesnotfollowaregularexport-importprocess,butratherloadsdatadirectlyintoAltiumDesigner'sPCBEditor.Thefollowingsectionsdetailstepstobetakentorevers
3、eengineeraPCBdesignfromtheCAMdata-frominitialimportintoaCAMdocument,throughtherequiredpre-exportpreparationandultimatelyontoexportofthedesigndatatothePCBEditor.ImportDataThestartingpointforthewholeprocessistheloadingofODB++,orGerberandNCDrillfiles,intoanewCAMdocument.
4、IfyouhaveanIPCnetlist,youshouldimportthisaswellwhenimportingGerberandNCDrilldata.WhenimportingODB++,onlyimportanIPCfileifthenetlistisnotintheODB++directory.TheIPCnetlistwillallowyoutoupdatetheextractednetswiththeiroriginalnames,anddifferentiatebetweenthrough-holeviasa
5、ndfree(non-component)pads.TheFile»Importsubmenucommandsallsearchforfileswithcertainextensionswithinagivenfolder.Whenimportingdrillfiles,forinstance,thespecifieddirectorywillfilteroutallfilesexceptthosewith.DR*,.ROU,.RTE,*.NC*and*.TX*extensions.Ifyoureceivedrillfileswi
6、thdifferentextensionsthanthese,youmayextendthislistontheCAMEditor-MiscellaneouspageofthePreferencesdialog(DXP»Preferences).FromhereyoucanalteranyofthedefaultextensionlistsassociatedwithGerber,Aperture,HPGLandNetlistfilesaswell.TheCAMEditor-Import/ExportpageofthePrefer
7、encesdialogletsyouchangethedefaultimportandexportsettingsforGerberfiles.Forexample,ifyouregularlyreceiveCAMdatageneratedusingP-CAD,youmightconsiderchangingthecoordinateprecisionformatfrom2:3(AltiumDesignerdefaults)to4:4(P-CADdefaults).Ifyoudon'tyouwillstillhavetheoppo
