3、idphase.Themodelpermitstheinterfacetohaveananisotropicsurfaceenergy,andallowsaquasi-incompressiblethermodynamicdescriptioninwhichthedensitiesinthesolidandliquidphasesmayeachbeuniform.Thesolidphaseismodeledasanextremelyviscousliquid,andtheformalismofirreversiblethermodynamicsise
4、mployedtoderivethegoverningequations.Weinvestigatethebehaviorofourmodelintwoimportantsimplesituationscorrespondingtothesolidificationofaplanarinterfaceatconstantvelocity:densitychangeflowandashearflow.Intheformercaseweobtainanon-equilibriumformoftheClausius–Clapeyronequationandinv
5、estigateitsbehaviorbybothadirectnumericalintegrationofthegoverningequations,andanasymptoticanalysiscorrespondingtoasmalldensitydifferencebetweenthetwophases.Inthecaseofaparallelshearflowweareabletoobtainanexactsolutionwhichallowsustoinvestigateitsbehaviorinthesharpinterfacelimit
