2、evolutionofthecontinentalcrust(KempandHawkesworth,Chapter4.11),U-Th-Pbgeochronology(Schoene,Chapter4.10),recyclingofcontinentalcrust(Lee,Chapter4.12),andthegeochem-istryofseafloorsediments(Plank,Chapter4.17,whichincludesanewestimateofglobalsubductingsediment:GLOSS
3、-II).Inaddition,twoofthechaptersinthisvolumecoverthesametopicsaschaptersintheoriginalvolume,butfromadifferentperspective:HermannandRubattoreviewultra-high-pressuremetamorphicrocks(Chapter4.9,replacingtheoriginalchapterbyRumbleetal.inthefirstedition)andBillWhitehas
4、nowteamedupwithEmilyKleintoproduceanewchapteronthegeochemistryoftheoceaniccrust(Chapter4.13).Mostofthechaptersinthisvolumehavebeenupdatedtoreflectscientificadvancesthathaveoccurredoverthepast10years.ClaudeJaupartandJean-ClaudeMareschallprovideanupdatedchapteronhea
